It's not an assembly line. . . . I don't write first, then design, then shoot. I'm doing everything together.

Rock-the-Cradle Discussion QUESTIONS AND EXERCISES
1. In the course of one week's normal watching of tv commercials, have your group identify how many commercials appeal to the stacking gene.
2. Have someone set-up for demonstration Tennessee Dixon's CD-ROM ScruTiny in the Great Round.(19) See how many people ask: "What is it? Is it art? Is it entertainment? Is it musical compositions? Is it poetry? Is it meditation?" The answer, of course, is that it's all the above . . . and more. The box reads . . . "Enter a magically interactive dreamscape through which you wander and make astonishing discoveries. Or just relax and savor the paintings, poetry, and music that ebb and flow at your command. Navigate through a banquet of interwoven images, metaphoric icons, audible symbols, and words. Most software titles merely allow you to open files and manipulate data. ScruTiny in the Great Round allows you to open your mind and manipulate your perspective."
3. Explore how your church can "stack" its ministry by researching which long-distance carriers will use some of your money to make a difference in our world.
For example, Working Assets Long Distance Network ("We Make Your Voice Heard"--800/INFO-735) is a phone company that supports environmental causes through donating 1 percent to nonprofit groups working for peace, human rights, economic justice and the environment--donations which don't cost you a penny. In 1995 Working Assets gave two million dollars to groups like Greenpeace and Human Rights Watch. With each phone bill comes an update on key issues facing Washington, along with free phone calls to targeted decision makers around the world.
4. There is a contemporary Christian music group called "Jars of Clay" that have broken into the top 40 secular market along with Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith. Listen to their song "Dear God," and see if you can't identify the musical stacking that is going on in this one song. Diverse musical instruments (some traditional, some ethnic) seem at times to be going off in their own directions. Yet amid the chaos there is order and melody and harmony.
